For some reason the makers tried to pimp up the 2009 Acura RDX into something its not with oversize rims and front intake. The Acura 2007 RDX exterior is further made ridiculous because it doesn’t represent what’s underneath – namely a very mediocre car. Perhaps this is the reason why the Acura RDX 2010 sales have been decidedly unimpressive and it has been largely squashed by competition, as shown by the RDX review.
The original concept of the Acura RDX 2011 wasn’t a bad one – namely creating a niche somewhere between a luxury sedan and a compact. However, something seems to have gone horribly wrong as this finely tuned niche was mixed up with elements from the muscle car, as well as from roadster and racer genre, as shown in the review Acura RDX. Unfairly, the Acura RDX was the first to introduce a vehicle that crossed the luxury/compact bridge, but it was the competitors that came after that captured the market.
The Acura RDX horsepower is lacking, and the turbocharge option really does very little to make matters better. However, the Acura RDX corners reasonably well due to good levels of balance in the front and rear axles, as shown in the reviews Acura RDX. One option that improves the Acura RDX many fold is the four wheel drive option. The outer wheels are given more power during cornering with this option in order to make the car nimbler. This will come as a welcome addition to anyone that has driven in sunny places where the outside air temperature isn’t necessarily that hot but the sunshine heats up the inside of the car.
